Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Song List

EPCOT's newest rollercoaster, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, is arguably the best Disney rollercoasters ever made. Since it's opening in May 2022, guests have flocked to EPCOT solely to enjoy the incredible Imagineering of this unique indoor rollercoaster. Due to it's continued popularity, Cosmic Rewind requires guests to either wait in a virtual queue or purchase an Individual Lightning Lane in order to experience the attraction. There are currently no standby queues available to ride Cosmic Rewind, so be sure to read on to learn how to experience one of the best rides at any Disney theme park.

One of the coolest features of the rollercoaster is that each ride will play one of six randomized songs. Each song was specifically chosen by Disney Imagineers to fit the Guardians of the Galaxy movie theme and to match the major movements of the ride.

As a Disney World annual passholder and EPCOT super fan, I have ridden Cosmic Rewind dozens of times. Although there are a few songs that I tend to get very frequently, I have been lucky enough to enjoy each of the six songs at least a few times. This article will include the full Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list, as well as how to ride this popular roller coaster using the virtual queue and Individual Lightning Lane options!

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Ride Vehicles

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is an omni-style indoor rollercoaster which plays a random song with each ride. The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list consists of six different songs that guests can hear while they ride the three minute long coaster. Although some guests have their favorites, each song was specifically chosen by Disney Imagineers to fit the theme of the ride as well as the major movements. I personally think each song fits very well with the ride but still brings their own unique experience. I always like to try and guess the song I'll hear right before I board the ride vehicle!

The Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list includes the following iconic songs:

  • “Conga” by Gloria Estefan
  • “Disco Inferno” by the Trammps
  • “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire
  • “One Way or Another” by Blondie
  • “I Ran (So Far Away”) by a Flock of Seagulls
  • “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” by Tears for Fears

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Song List Special Editions

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Holiday Remix Overlay

During the 2022-2023 holiday season, Disney World added an additional song to the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list to celebrate the holiday season. The song was a version of “Run, Run, Rudolph” but was renamed “Run, Run, Rocket.” This song was a mashup of various holiday songs sung by the Guardians of the Galaxy characters. Although I personally found the song an enjoyable and fun overlay for the holiday season, many guests strongly disagreed, and it was removed from the 2023-2024 holiday season soundtrack. Instead, guests would hear the normal Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list during the holiday season in 2023.

Although Disney World removed the holiday mashup song for 2023, they did add another fun element to the ride on September 21st, 2023. For those who know the lyrics to the song “September” by Earth, Wind & Fire, you know the line “Do you remember the 21st night of September?.” I happened to visit EPCOT on September 21, 2023, and was hoping to hear this song to celebrate the day, and I was very excited to hear the song start to play at the beginning of the ride. However, I eventually learned from a cast member that “September” played for all guests on September 21st, which I thought was a fun surprise. I am very hopeful that EPCOT will continue this tradition on September 21, 2024!

How to Ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Virtual Queue and Individual Lightning Lane

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Ride Photo

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is currently one of two rides at Disney World that require a virtual queue, the other being Tron Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom. Although many often complain about the virtual queue requirement, I prefer the virtual queue system because it prevents having to wait in a long physical queue and waste precious park time. Additionally, more recently we have noticed it's starting to get a lot easier to snag a virtual queue boarding group for Cosmic Rewind than it has in the past! Besides the virtual queue, guests also have the option to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane pass. Read more below on how to use the virtual queue and purchase an Individual Lightning Lane in order to experience the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list!

Virtual Queue

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Queue

The only free way to experience Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is to join a virtual queue. For guests staying at a Disney World resort, they are able to enter the virtual queue at 7AM using the My Disney Experience app on the day they plan on visiting EPCOT. For guests not staying at a Disney World resort, they can enter the virtual queue when EPCOT opens. Guests are not required to physically be inside EPCOT when they want to join the virtual boarding group in the mornings.

However, for guests that missed the morning virtual queue time, there will be another opportunity at 1 PM to enter the queue. However, the 1PM virtual queue slots are only available to guests who did not already book a morning virtual queue and are physically inside EPCOT. After receiving a boarding group number, guests will be notified via the app when they are able to enter a shortened physical queue to experience Cosmic Rewind. It should be noted that a virtual queue boarding group does not necessarily guarantee that you will get to experience the attraction. We always recommend waking up early to snag that morning virtual queue for a high chance of the boarding group being called. Additionally, the physical queue for early boarding groups are often extremely short or even non-existent!

Extended Evening Hours

Guests staying at one of Disney World's deluxe resorts have an additional opportunity to enter the Cosmic Rewind virtual queue during extended evening hours. This event takes place periodically and allows deluxe resort guests an extra chance to experience the parks with limited guests! All of the upcoming dates and qualifying resorts can be found on Disney World's website.

Individual Lightning Lane

In addition to the free virtual queue, guests are able to purchase an Individual Lightning Lane to ride Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Not to be confused with Genie+ which is a one time purchase that is good for multiple attractions, the Individual Lightning Lanes are a one time purchase to skip the line for one popular attraction. There are one or two rides in each Disney World park that require a separate Individual Lightning Lane purchase to skip the line. The Individual Lightning Lane for Cosmic Rewind costs between $14 and $17 per person depending on the day.

Similarly to the virtual queue, guests can purchase an Individual Lightning Lane through the My Disney Experience app starting at either 7 AM for resort guests or park opening for non-resort guests. One advantage to Individual Lightning Lanes is that guests can choose the time period that they wish to use their Lightning Lane unlike the virtual queue which is dictated by your boarding group. Additionally, the Individual Lightning Lane line is almost always significantly shorter than the physical queue guests will stand in once their boarding group is called. How to Hear All Six Songs on the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Song List

Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind Rollercoaster

Unfortunately, there is no way to guarantee which song guests will hear during their ride on Cosmic Rewind. I even have friends that have heard the same song up to 5 or 6 times in a row! Although all of the songs on the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind song list are enjoyable in their own way, guests are always asking if there is a way to guarantee which song they will hear.

The only way to experience all the songs on Cosmic Rewind is to ride the rollercoaster as much as possible! For those extra motivated guests, I would recommend snagging both a virtual queue boarding group and purchasing an Individual Lightning Lane pass for each day they are visiting EPCOT. This is currently the only way to ride Cosmic Rewind more than once in a single day, unless you are lucky enough to be staying at a deluxe level resort during EPCOT's extended evening hours.
