Walt Disney's vision for Disneyland was far from ordinary. After seeing his daughters play on a merry-go-round, he was inspired to create a place where children and parents alike could experience fun together.
Opening day at Disneyland was intended for invited guests and the press for an expected crowd of about 15,000 people, but on opening day, guests flooded the park with counterfeit tickets, reportedly bringing more than 28,000 visitors.
The opening ceremony was a star-studded event, with celebrities such as Ronald Reagan, Art Linkletter, and Fess Parker in attendance.
