How Much is Uber and Lyft From Orlando Airport to Disney World?

Whether you take an Uber, rent a car, or pay for Mears Connect, the of the most important costs you do not want to forget when planning your trip to Walt Disney World is your transportation. So this leads to the common question, what is the Uber cost from Orlando airport to Disney?

Both Uber and Lyft are popular rideshare options when it comes to traveling from Orlando International Airport to Walt Disney World. And with Disney World trip planning strategies changing all the time, it’s important to understand how to factor your rideshare options into your budget. Having experience in Uber, Lyft, renting a car, Mears Connect (and even the now-extinct Magical Express), I’ve had plenty of chances to understand just how much each form of transportation costs to get from Orlando Airport to Disney World.

Let’s break down everything you need to know about the cost to take a rideshare from Orlando Airport to Disney World, including your rideshare options as well as other alternatives.

Here are the fares based on the type of car you choose. These fares were taken from an estimate done in early 2024. However, prices are subject to change. Using the Uber price estimator will be your best friend when planning your Disney World trip.

Uber and Lyft Costs Vary Depending on Demand

Orlando Airport Terminal A/B

Uber calls their pricing model “dynamic pricing.”

Similar to the date-based theme park ticket pricing Walt Disney World implemented in recent years, Uber’s dynamic pricing means that the price of your Uber ride varies according to how busy things are around your area. The higher the demand for an Uber ride, the more likely the cost to Uber from Orlando Airport to Disney World will increase.

Conversely, the less demand, the more likely your cost will be lower.

While there’s no guaranteed way of figuring out if your Uber cost will increase, there are a few factors to keep in mind.

With an understanding of how busy Disney World gets throughout the year, you can imagine that busier times of the year at Disney World might mean more Uber demand at Orlando Airport (and thus an increase in cost). More specifically, times of the year where schools are on vacation, holidays, long weekends, and even special events may impact Uber demand. And while you can’t always avoid any surge price in your Uber ride, you can certainly plan for it in advance.

While Uber’s dynamic pricing can be an unhappy surprise, it’s important to be prepared for it when planning your Disney World trip.

Why Take an Uber or Lyft to Disney World?

Polynesian Resort

If you’ve used a rideshare service before, you most likely understand how Uber and Lyft works.

With transportation options changing all the time, using a rideshare platform like Uber or Lyft can many times be the most cost-efficient option to get you from Orlando Airport to Disney World. For example, 1 popular transportation in the past was the taxi. However, taking a taxi from Orlando Airport to Disney World today costs at least $60, which is much pricier than taking an Uber.

In short, Uber can be your cheapest option depending on Uber’s surge pricing.

Another upside to using Uber is its ability to get you to your destination as quickly as possible.

Let’s compare using an Uber to using Mears Connect, the current bus transportation option. When using Uber, you’re able to go directly from Orlando Airport to almost anywhere in Walt Disney World – the resort of your choice, the theme park of your choice, or Disney Springs. Conversely, when using Mears Connect, you can only go from Orlando Airport to the Disney resort you’re staying at. Not only that, but depending on where you’re staying, your Mears Connect bus most likely has several stops to make before you can get to your resort.

Taking Uber or Lyft can be a cheaper and quicker option.

For those new to Uber or Lyft, there’s a few things you should know to have a smooth rideshare process.

Both Uber and Lyft are rideshare services, allowing you to book private drivers on short notice through a mobile app on your smartphone. To start, all you need to do is download the rideshare app of your choice, and link it to your credit card or PayPal account. You’ll also need to create a basic profile when signing up, but this is a simple process.

Once this is all done, you’re ready to ride!

Step-by-Step Process of Using Uber

Let’s break down how to Uber from Orlando Airport to Magic Kingdom (via the Ticket and Transportation Center):

  1. On the Uber homescreen, type your destination (in this case: 3450 World Drive, Orlando, FL) in the “Where to?” field. Note that you can change your pickup location depending on which specific door you’re located at the airport.
  2. Once you’ve entered your destination, Uber pulls up a screen with your route, how long you’ll need to wait to get picked up, your different vehicle options, their estimated prices, and estimated drop-off times.
  3. Select your vehicle option, tap on the “Request” button, then confirm your pickup spot. Note that Uber and Lyft pickup locations are located on Level 2 for Terminals A and B (level 3 between 9:00pm and 2:00am) and level 6 for Terminal C.
  4. Once you’re matched with a driver, you’ll be able to see your driver’s name, picture, vehicle description, and license plate. You’ll also be able to see where your driver is, their estimated arrival time, and the route Uber suggests the driver should take.
  5. Once you’ve made it to your destination, you’ll have the opportunity to rate your driver and tip them through the mobile app. Uber drivers can also rate you as a passenger, but they won’t be able to see how much you tip them when rating you.

The Uber process may seem complicated, but it’s straightforward. If you’re still uncomfortable with setting up an Uber or Lyft, my suggestion is to do a few “dry runs” where you set up your pick-up location and destination without tapping on the “Request” button.

What is the Difference Between Uber and Lyft?

Uber Lyft

As we mentioned earlier, both Uber and Lyft are popular rideshare options that offer cheaper alternatives to taxis.

Both Uber and Lyft operate in the greater Orlando area. They both give passengers a convenient and innovative way to request and pay for rides through their smartphones. And because each company’s drivers are independent contractors with different vehicle types and personalities, even if you use the same rideshare service time-after-time, each trip will most likely be different.

So Uber and Lyft are the same, right?

Not so fast!

First off, Uber costs and Lyft costs can vary drastically. For example, the cheapest Uber option from Orlando Airport to Disney World from earlier is $38.85 while the equivalent vehicle option through Lyft costs $44.99. Not only that, but just because Uber is cheaper today doesn’t mean it’s cheaper all the time. Because both Uber and Lyft pricing varies according to demand, there are times when Lyft may be cheaper.

Secondly, Walt Disney World partnered with Lyft to bring guests the Minnie Van service. This service can only be used within the Walt Disney World resort area, meaning you cannot use it to get from Orlando Airport to Disney World (unless you’re a Club Level Disney World guest). However, for those who want to travel in style and with Disney’s top-notch service, the Minnie Van through Lyft is a great option.

In the end, while Uber and Lyft are similar, their costs can vary depending on the demand.

Mears Connect is Another Alternative

Mears Connect

For those who traveled to Walt Disney World before 2020, you may remember the wonderful Disney’s Magical Express, the complimentary bus service that took guests from Orlando Airport to their Disney World Resort.

Unfortunately, Disney did away with this service likely as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. To replace this service, Disney partnered with Mears and Sunshine Flyer to offer 1 bus service called “Mears Connect Driven by Sunshine.” Through this service, guests can pick from 2 levels of service: the Standard service which makes multiple stops to serve multiple parties and the Express Service which takes you directly to your Disney resort.

You can view the pricing for Mears Connect here.
