After going around and around in the Disney rumor mill, Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom was officially confirmed. The new interactive experience will be similar to to Kim Possible World Showcase Adventure at Epcot. It will allow guests to fight villains and become a “sorcerer”.
Merlin the magician will be the experience’s host, “recruiting” guests in a virtual battle against famous Disney villains.
Work on Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom has begun in Adventureland. They have already begun to add a number of new technological features such as cameras, peep wholes, magic mirrors, and crates.
Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom is set to make its debut in early 2012, but the Disney Parks blog has nicely enough shared concept art for the experience.
The artwork appears to depict a boy “battling” Maleficent in dragon form from within a magic mirror of sorts. This art gives us an idea of how the whole experience will pan out. I will take a gander as to say that all interaction with villains is through these “mirrors”.
