One of my favorite things about Disney World is the artwork. My family is exposed to world-renowned artists and many different types of art. The Wyland Galleries at Polynesian Resort and Boardwalk Inn are wonderful (and free) places to browse an incredible collection of Disney and non-Disney artwork.
On October 18th and 19th, Rodel Gonzalez was at the Polynesian Resort. He was painting a classic Fantasia/Sorcerer's Apprentice scene. I have always enjoyed his artwork and one day I dream of owning a piece from his collection to hang proudly in my house. To see him paint in person was a memorable event. I am so glad that through Disney, my children are learning about artists, the patience it takes to paint such a beautiful piece of artwork, and how to make a lifelong dream come true.
I asked him if he had a favorite painting. His reply? The first one. It may not have been the best but it did land him his job. So, it has special meaning. Now, he paints and has an entirely different career. He reminds me of so many people around me that balance two (or more) jobs as well as family and everything else and still are an inspiration for those around them.
