At Destination D23 last year, Disney announced that Animal Kingdom would be undergoing a major change as Dinoland U.S.A. would receive a massive overhaul to transform into a land inspired by the tropical Americas. It was teased that Encanto and Indiana Jones could be stories featured, and though there are many possibilities like the ride DINOSAUR transforming into Indiana Jones Adventure, few details have yet been confirmed.
The idea was introduced as a “Blue sky” concept, but now there are signs that some progress is being made as Disney is seemingly preparing for construction in Animal Kingdom. In March, Walt Disney Imagineering filed a permit for a trailer compound behind Kali River Rapids, and now this has been approved. Keep reading for more details and what this may mean for the Dinoland U.S.A. overhaul!
Animal Kingdom Permit Approved
Walt Disney Imagineering recently filed a permit that included plans for a trailer complex that would contain four Walt Disney Imagineering trailers, a contractor trailer, 363 parking spaces, and a new sidewalk and crosswalks added to the road connecting the complex to the Dinoland U.S.A. area. Given its placement, likely that this trailer complex is for the construction for the reimagining of Dinoland U.S.A.

The construction for the trailer complex was approved, and now Walt Disney Imagineering has filed Notice of Commencement permits for the installation of the trailers. The South Florida Water Management District approved the construction of the trailer complex for 5 years, and the permit will expire on May 22, 2029.
This is a good sign that progress on the project is moving forward, and we're expecting to hear more details about the new tropical Americas land this August at the D23 Expo.
