Marvel released the first trailer for the long awaited Avengers Movie today.
The 2-minute-plus trailer features all of the core superheroes featured in the upcoming film, including Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), the Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Bruce Banner/The Incredible Hulk (Mark Ruffalo).
S.H.I.E. L.D. Agent Coulson (Clark Gregg) also appears in the trailer, along with Thor’s half-brother Loki (Tom Hiddleston), who is the main villain in the film. Loki’s voiceover about the weaknesses of Earth opens the trailer.
Even though the above trailer shows a lot of fighting, it also includes some very witty comments made by Iron Man's alter-ego Tony Stark. In a bit of bickering Captain America asks Stark, “Big man in a suit of armor. Take that away — what are you?” to which Stark replies, “Uh, genius billionaire playboy philanthropist”
The trailer also reveals the first look at the CGI Hulk. Previous to that, Stark greets Banner with a handshake and says, “Dr. Banner, your work is unparalled, and I’m a huge fan of the way you lose control (and) turn into an enormous, green rage monster.”
Several of the cast members are set to appear at Saturday’s New York Comic-Con to present more previously unseen footage, including Evans, Hiddleston, Gregg and Colbie Smulders (S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Hill), along with producer Kevin Feige. We will have more coverage for you after the event.
Written and directed by Joss Whedon, “The Avengers” is due in theaters May 4, 2012.
