Disneyland is currently in the process of testing new entry gates that will eventually be installed across the resort. A new test entry gate was recently added at Disney California Adventure, and it will be there for a limited time so that Disneyland's teams can get hands-on experience with guests using it before the final installation starts later this year.
These new entry gates will be installed across the resort at the two theme park entrances and the Downtown Disney Monorail entrance. We recently got the opportunity to try out the new test entry gate at Disney California Adventure—see our thoughts below!
New Test Entry Gate at Disney California Adventure
The new entry gates will open automatically when a guest's ticket is scanned and take/validate their photo. This new gate will hopefully make the guest experience of scanning into the park smoother!

A member of our team recently got to use one of these test entry gates. She says the process is “Very smooth! A CM scanned my passes before entering the area (assuming this is just something they are doing while testing). Then I proceeded toward the display screens where I scanned my passes. After each one, we had to take a picture of the pass holder using this small camera attached to the display screen. It was nice because my son was sitting in his stroller and I didn’t have to take him out to be able to take his photo (which it originally seemed like I would have to). I was asked to push him closer to the screen and they were able to get his photo. (Interesting because I never saw the camera move or angle down, so I was curious how they did it.) Then we were able to walk right through. Easy!”
The entry gates will be installed in phases, and the project is expected to be completed in 2025.
