Disney fans are rejoicing as the iconic nighttime spectacular, Fantasmic!, is finally returning to the park next week after over a year-long hiatus. The show closed last year in April after the Maleficent dragon suddenly burst into flames during a performance, and after some uncertainty regarding the timing of its return, Disney announced late last year that it would be reopening this Spring with some new changes.
Here's what you can expect when Fantasmic! will be returning to the Rivers of America on May 24 next Friday. As many families are in the process of planning their summer Disneyland trips, they are wondering what to expect and which aspects of the nighttime spectacular will be changing.
Fantasmic! Returning Next Week With New Changes
Disney shared that the popular nighttime spectacular will feature new special effects, the return of the show's former Peter Pan scene (which will be replacing the Pirates of the Caribbean scene), and a new battle scene between Sorcerer Mickey and Maleficent. One of the biggest changes to note is that the Maleficent dragon that was previously featured in the show will not be returning. We're interested in seeing what the new Maleficent battle scene will bring to the table, as it has some large shoes to fill.
