Here are all the current events to know about impacting Disneyland in October!
Halloween at Disneyland
is a popular time to visit and becomes more popular each year! The Halloween season begins at the beginning of September and continues until Halloween day. There's plenty of themed food, decorations, entertainment and ride overlays to enjoy. This also includes the popular Halloween Screams fireworks show at Disneyland!
Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure
The yearly ticketed Halloween Party event takes place at Disney's California Adventure called Oogie Boogie Bash. This event includes a specific Halloween parade, rare characters, trick or treat trails and more! Oogie Boogie's Bash takes place on select nights in October through Halloween.
Universal Studios Hollywood's Halloween Horror Nights
Universal Studios Hollywood will also be in full swing for their Halloween celebrations with their ticketed event called Halloween Horror Nights. Keep in mind that this event is much more adult focused than the Halloween happenings at Disneyland and is targeted at an older audience.
Disneyland in October Pros
One of the biggest pros of visiting Disneyland in September is being able to experience Halloween attraction overlays at Disneyland! You can expect to see plenty of Halloween themes on favorite attractions like Haunted Mansion, Guardians of the Galaxy, and the smaller Cars Land rides. The Haunted Mansion receives a Nightmare Before Christmas theme and this theme is so immersive and over the top that some guests prefer it over the original. Over in California Adventure, you will see Halloween themes on the smaller Cars land rides but the big theme takes place in the Guardians of the Galaxy- Mission: BREAKOUT! ride. Once evening falls, the ride is transformed into a monster hunt to save baby Groot.
Another pro of visiting during Halloween includes plenty of park decor, themed treats and entertainment for guests to enjoy. Nearly all of this is included in your regular park admission while the separate Halloween ticketed event takes place at California Adventure on select nights. If you've been wanting to attend a ticketed event at Disneyland this is the perfect time so be sure to get a ticket to Oogie Boogie Bash.Â
The weather at Disneyland in October is also much more mellow with temperatures calming down but still warm enough to easily enjoy your hotel pool!
Disneyland in October Cons
The biggest con of visiting Disneyland in October is for guests that may not have a party ticket for Oogie Boogie Bash at California Adventure. If you don't have a party ticket, you will be asked to leave the park around 5pm. I would make note of the days that Oogie Boogie Bash is taking place to make sure you have a park hopper ticket if you plan on going to that park so you can hop over to Disneyland when guests are asked to leave. It actually can be a wise decision to start off the day early at California Adventure the day of the Halloween party as most guests with party tickets won't be allowed in until later and others may just stay at Disneyland. Just make sure you leave in time to head over to Disneyland!
What is Disneyland Weather Like in October?
Disneyland in October starts to cool off with an average high around 76 degrees and the average low around 63 degrees. It isn't unexpected to get hot days in October though so I would be prepared and bring clothes for hot days, just in case.
Fall in California is much different than Fall in other areas of the country- you can still experience hot weather that you may associate more with summer so I would pack accordingly. Bring clothes you can layer and don't forget your swimsuits. The days still stay long with the average day lasting nearly 12 hours providing ample sunshine for your park days.
