4th of July is a popular day to visit the Disneyland in July mainly for the fireworks show! In regular years, Disneyland puts on a specially themed 4th of July fireworks show.
Pixar Fest at Disneyland
Pixar Fest, a celebration of friendship featuring favorite Pixar characters, colorful decor, themed menu items, and special entertainment, will continue through July. It will feature an all-new daytime parade “Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!” at Disney California Adventure and the returning “Together Forever – A Pixar Nighttime Spectacular” with new scenes at Disneyland Park.

Disneyland in July Pros
One of the pros of visiting Disneyland in July is that the longest days in July average around 14 and a half hours. That's a full day of sun to enjoy yourself. Disneyland will also have some of its longest operating hours of the year so you will have plenty of time to take an afternoon break and enjoy your hotel pool. The sunny weather means very slim chance of rain since California typically only sees rain in the winter months.
Disneyland in July will also be a time of the year it's typically to experience new experiences at Disneyland. They often debut any new rides, experiences, parades before the start of summer making July a great time. Avengers Campus opened in California Adventure in June which brought a brand new Spider-Man ride to the parks, Marvel themed entertainment and new food options. Plus you will hardly see any popular attractions down for refurbishment.
Visiting Disneyland in July is also more convenient for many families with children being on vacation from school and everyone's schedules typically align better for a summer trip.
Disneyland in July Cons
The weather in Disneyland in July can be hot! This could be seen as a con for many folks. The average high temperature runs at 84 degrees with an average low temperature of 66 degrees. With the amount of concrete at Disneyland reflecting the sun back at you, it can even feel hotter than the thermostat says!
The good news is that you can easily manage hot weather at Disneyland in July with advance planning! Get to the parks right when they open, the temperature won't really start heating up until 11AM and the ride lines are always shorter in the morning. Take an afternoon break when the sun is the highest to go back to your hotel to swim, take a nap and just generally relax.
Another con for Disneyland in July could be the crowds, since summer is a peak time of the year to visit for many tourists you can see increased crowds at the park. However, this year looks different as Disneyland is still controlling capacity and Annual Passholders have been temporarily discontinued. It's likely this summer we still see lower than average crowds so it's the perfect time to visit!
What Should I Pack for Disneyland in July?
Considering the high average temperature for the month of July, plan on packing summer attire for the parks. Bring cooling towels, misting fans, and any other gear you like to have when it's hot. With some advance planning, you can handle the heat!
But don't forget the hot weather necessities like sunscreen, portable fans, cooling towels, and other items all aimed at keeping you cool on hot days. If you find yourself wanting one of these while you're on vacation, you'll end up paying a high price in the parks or at your hotel.
