Disneyland Events in FebruaryDisneyland in February - Lunar New Year

Here are all the events for 2024 Disneyland in February to consider as you plan your trip.

Valentine's Day

Disneyland does quite a bit for their Valentine's celebration with seasonal food, decor and special dining options to choose from. There is also usually a scavenger hunt you can enjoy as you search for a hidden valentine Minnie has left for Mickey and their friends. There is usually a heart shaped photo op on Main Street, U.S.A. to take pictures in front of too!

Lunar New Year

Lunar New Year will also be celebrated in California Adventure in the Paradise Gardens until February 18th. Guests can find special music, entertainment, and characters like Mulan!

Disneyland After Dark Sweethearts Nite

Disneyland After Dark: Sweethearts' Nite takes place on Feb. 1, 6, 8, 12 & 14 at Disneyland.

Celebrate Gospel

Celebrate Gospel will take place at Disneyland Park in February, with the 2024 concerts headlined by Marvin Sapp (Feb. 17) and Tasha Cobbs Leonard (Feb. 24). Visiting Disneyland in February is a great time to visit because of the low crowd levels. This is easiest one of the biggest pros of visiting Disneyland this time of the year! Despite the activities that Lunar New Year holds most of the crowds that will come out to see this festival are the local annual passholders. This isn't typically a popular time of year for tourists which often results in low to minimal crowd levels.

The one exception is Presidents Day which will be a busy weekend for the parks so if you can avoid visiting that time of the month.

If you want to get an idea of how the Alocals will impact the parks during your visit then I recommend reading through the blockout date calendar for Magic Key passes on Disneyland's website. But February is the time of year that Disney typically allows all their passholders in the park with limited block out dates for lower tier passes such as weekends.

Another pro for visiting Disneyland in February is the mild weather. If you're not a fan of the heat then visiting this time of the year can be nice since temperatures rarely go above the average high of 69 degrees.

Disneyland in February Cons

Refurbishments are one of the downsides to visiting Disneyland in February. Since the park considers February to be a slower time of the year they often plan length refurbishments to happen this time of the year especially as they prepare for Spring Break and Summer season. Check the Disneyland calendar before you arrive to see what rides may be down for maintenance.

Another con is that Disneyland might not have as longer operating hours as they do in the summer and holiday months. Disneyland's operating hours average an opening schedule of 10 hours a day on weekdays with limited entertainment and weekends with longer hours ranging up to 16 hours a day and more entertainment options. Fireworks are often only scheduled on weekends this time of year as a courtesy to their neighbors in Anaheim so that is another consideration to take into account.

What is the Weather Like at Disneyland in February?Cars Land at Disneyland

The weather at Disneyland in February can vary depending on the week and there is a higher chance you may see rain compared to the summer months. The good thing about rain is if you arrive prepared (think ponchos and rain boots!) you can enjoy an empty park as everyone clears out due to the weather. Disneyland won't close for rain but rides with outdoor tracks will for safety reasons so that's something to keep in mind if it rains during your visit.

The average temperature for Anaheim in February is a high of 69 degrees and a low of 48 degrees. It can be quite warm in the sun and cooler at night so dress in layers so you're ready for all temperatures. I usually rent a locker to store a heavier jacket in so I can put it away if the sun is out and I don't need it.

We always think the pros outweigh the cons when planning a trip to Disneyland but it's hard to beat the mild weather and potential for low crowds that visiting Disneyland in February offers.

Disneyland in February Tips

Here are a few tips when choosing February as your month to visit Disneyland:

  • Make dining reservations- don't forget to make your dining reservations before you visit! You can make your dining reservations up to 60 days in advance of your trip. This is a must as popular restaurants will fill up!
  • Use Genie+ to Beat Lines- if you're not familiar yet with Genie+ I recommend reading through our Genie+ guide so you have the best tips on how to maximize your time on your trip. Genie+ is a program that allows you to save your spot in line virtually and return later when the line is shorter by using the “Lightning Lane” which greater reduces your wait.
  • Check the weather- be sure to check the weather leading right up until your trip so you're away of any trends that may influence your packing choices like rain, heat, etc.
