Disney World Adult Resorts

Gran Destino Tower Coronado Springs

While Disney World has many great resorts for adults, they do not have any adult-only resorts. Families and children are welcome to stay at all of them. However, there still seems to be certain resorts that families gravitate towards and ones that adults prefer when they are child-free.

Disney’s immaculate theming is most likely one of the reasons for this. There are multiple resorts that are very kid friendly. One example is Disney’s Art of Animation. This resort is filled with bright colors, beloved characters, large decorations, and rooms that are themed to popular Disney and Pixar movies. At this resort, you’ll find Standard Rooms as well as Family Suites which makes it a perfect option for large or small families. While the food is good, it isn’t very exotic. Which again, makes it perfect for little ones who tend to be picky eaters.

With multiple resorts that have similar characteristics, it’s no surprise that families tend to choose these resorts to stay at. Similarly, there are many resorts on property that have attributes that are more appealing for adults. These resorts include things such as fine dining, elegant decor, spas, bars, lounges, and adult-geared entertainment. Let’s take a look at which Disney World resorts are the best for adults!

Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Polynesian Village Resort

When you stay at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, you’ll feel like you’re vacationing at a tropical paradise. Upon your arrival, you’ll be greeted with a warm “Aloha!” and receive a Hawaiian lei. You’ll be surrounded by beautiful palms, tropical flowers, and tiki torches as you enter the lobby area.

At this resort, there are two different pool locations. For a quieter experience, head over to the Oasis Pool. With a water play area, waterfall, and waterslide located at the Lava Pool, those seeking a more relaxing pool experience prefer the Oasis Pool. You also have the option to rent an Oasis Patio. These private patios are located next to the Oasis Pool and include cushioned lounge chairs, towels, and more accommodations. With the Oasis Bar & Grill being nearby, you’re able to order delicious food and drinks directly from your patio! Enjoy savory bites like fish tacos, pork sliders, and Polynesian-themed burgers. To go along with it, indulge in some tropical cocktails, wine, or Hawaiian beer!

The Polynesian also has white sand beaches that provide ultimate relaxation. Grab yourself a Dole Whip or Pineapple Float from Pineapple Lanai and head out to the beach! With multiple beach chairs available, you’ll have the chance to soak up some sun and enjoy the beauty of Seven Seas Lagoon. This is also a great area to head to in the evening. Here, on the beach, you can enjoy the Magic Kingdom fireworks without dealing with the crowds at the park. You can also catch the Electrical Water Pageant floating across Seven Seas Lagoon with glittering lights and uplifting music.

When it comes to dining, you can’t go wrong at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. For a delicious dinner, ‘Ohana is a great choice. The best part is, the ‘Ohana dinner is All-You-Care-To-Enjoy! Indulge is endless amounts of Salad, ‘Ohana Bread, Chicken Wings, Pork Dumplings, ‘Ohana Bread Pudding, and the ‘Ohana Dinner Skillet. The Dinner Skillet includes Teriyaki Beef, Spicy Peel-n-Eat Shrimp, Grilled Chicken with Polynesian-inspired Chimichurri Sauce, ‘Ohana Noodles, and Roasted Seasonal Vegetables.

If you’re looking for a place to enjoy drinks and entertainment, Trader Sam’s Tiki Terrace is the place for you! This is a tropical outdoor lounge where you can sip on signature cocktails and grab some light bites while enjoying live music.

For a more private experience during your stay a the Polynesian, consider staying in one of the bungalows! These bungalows are located on the water of the Seven Seas Lagoon. They are a great escape away from everything and provide you with your own personal oasis. This is one of our favorite Disney World resorts for adults.

Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge

Animal Kingdom Lodge giraffes

Perhaps you didn’t think that Africa was going to be your next travel destination. If you stay at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge though, you’ll be immediately transported there. This resort is rich with African spirit and culture. You’ll see this in its architecture, design, and decor. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge actually houses one of the largest African art collections in the U.S.!

Speaking of art, you can take the Wild About Painting class while you’re at Animal Kingdom Lodge. While children are also allowed to attend, it is recommended that the children who take this class are at least 12 years of age or older. This peaceful environment and relaxing activity makes this a great class for adults. Plus, you’ll be able to take your piece of art home with you as a keepsake!

The art and architecture aren’t the only beautiful parts of Animal Kingdom Lodge. This resort is equipped with four savannas. With over 200 hoofed animals as well as birds, you’ll have the opportunity to see over 30 species of African animals. These savannas can be seen from a variety of different places around the resort including restaurants and rooms! If you want to ensure that you have a view of the savanna from your room, you can specifically book a Savanna View Room. Imagine waking up in the morning, watching the sunrise, enjoying breakfast on your balcony, and watching the animals. You’ll have the chance to see animals such as zebras, giraffes, gazelles, flamingos, wildebeest, and more.

To enjoy views of the savanna during a meal, head over to Sanaa. This quick service restaurant serves African cooking that’s enhanced with Indian flavors. Enjoy Vegetable Curry with Chicken or Shrimp, Pork Shank, Samaki Wa Kupaka, Potjie Inspired, or Grilled New York Strip Steak. You can also enjoy a buffet at Boma – Flavors of Africa or a nice dinner at Jiko – The Cooking Place.

Animal Kingdom Lodge has multiple lounges where you can sit and enjoy some drinks. Sanaa Lounge, Victoria Falls Lounge, or Cape Town Lounge Wine and Bar all provide unique atmospheres and delicious drinks. These dining options make this Disney World resort a good fit for adults.

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Yacht Club Resort

As the name suggests, Disney’s Yacht Club is designed to represent just that. More specifically, this resort is modeled after a New England-style yacht club. You will feel the presence of a nautical social community when you stay at Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. The atmosphere at this resort is sophisticated, yet relaxed.

Of course, you can’t have a yacht club without water. Disney’s Yacht Club is conveniently located next to Crescent Lake. While the lake beautifully accents the nautical theme of the resort, it also provides an opportunity for recreational water activities. If you’re looking to simply enjoy time out on the water, Bayside Marina has motorized boats for rent. When you rent a boat, you will be your own captain. Set your own pace and enjoy the views of surrounding resorts. You can also take part in a guided bass-fishing excursion.

Relaxing water activities don’t end there for Disney’s Yacht Club. This resort is also home to multiple pools. While the 3-acre water area, Stormalong Bay, may be a little more active than what you’re looking for on your adult trip, don’t miss out on the relaxing options that it offers! At Stormalong Bay, you’ll find a lazy river, tanning deck, and three whirlpool spas. However, this is the main pool and one that families are more likely to visit. If you want a quieter experience, don’t worry! Shared between Disney Yacht Club Resort and Disney’s Beach Club Resort (located next door) are three Leisure Pools. These pools have a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere and are the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle.

Disney’s Yacht Club also has amazing dining options. If you’re looking for a sweet treat, head over to Beaches & Cream Soda Shop! This old-fashioned ice cream shop has many dessert options, but you can’t miss out on the Kitchen Sink! This sundae is made up of 8 scoops of ice cream along with every topping in the shop!

For a sophisticated dinner, Yachtsman Steakhouse is an amazing choice. This table service restaurant is one of Disney’s Fine/Signature Dining restaurants. Guests are expected to adhere to a dress code when dining at one of Disney’s Fine/Signature Dining restaurants. At Yachtsman Steakhouse, you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy exquisite seafood and steak dishes. From your cabin, you can enjoy tranquil views of Bay Lake. Take it to the next level by relaxing in a personal hot tub that’s located on the private porch.

Away from the noise of the Copper Creek Spring Pool, you’ll be able to relax in the whirlpool spa or in the pool. There are also shaded seating areas that are located around the pool if you’d rather enjoy some time poolside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do any Disney resorts have adult only pools?

No, none of the Disney resorts have adult only pools. Many of the Disney World Resort hotels do have Leisure Pools though. These pools are away from the main area of the resort and tend to be quieter and have a more peaceful atmosphere. While there is no age limit on these pools, families with children tend to visit the main pools which often have fun things to do such as water slides, water play areas, and kiddie pools.

What part of Disney World is best for adults?

It's hard to pinpoint one exact area of Disney World that is best for adults. In regards to theme parks, EPCOT tends to be a favorite among adults due to the food and drink options that are available around World Showcase. In terms of resorts, there are many great options for adults, but Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa might be the most popular. Disney Springs is also very popular with adults at Walt Disney World. This is a large shopping, dining, and entertainment area that is great both during the day and later at night.

Is it worth going to Disney World as an adult?

Yes, I very much believe that it is worth going to Disney World as an adult. If you're an adult traveling with children, it's amazing to experience Disney World alongside your child. You are able to enjoy yourself while simultaneously watching them have a fantastic time. I also think it's worth going to Disney World as an adult if you're child-free. My husband and I have taken multiple trips on our own without our children and have tremendously enjoyed them. There are plenty of attractions, dining, and entertainment that is enjoyable for all ages as well as some that are specifically made for adults.

Is Magic Kingdom or EPCOT better for adults?

While both parks can be enjoyed by adults, many find that EPCOT is better for adults. This is usually due to the unique food and drink options that are available at World Showcase. EPCOT also has a wide variety of entertainment as well as annual festivals that adults enjoy very much.
