Breaking News: Aladdin the Musical Officially is Announced For Broadway

Breaking News: Disney just announced that Aladdin would be replacing Mary Poppins at the New Amsterdam theater in New York. Disney has stated that they the show will officially open sometime in 2014.

Disney describes the show as: Discover a whole new world in a whole new way.

When I first heard the announcement, there were lots of questions running through my head: What version of the show will be heading to Broadway? What will happen to the show at Disney California Adventure?

The show in Disney California Adventure just turned 10 years old and after that long the show is still one of the best in the park.

The other version of the show that would be a possibility would be the version that has been playing in Seattle. The show in Seattle was a middle of the road production that was very well done, but could be accomplished by a resourceful high school director. When Disney first opened the show in Seattle their goal was to offer the rights for teachers and directors to produce the show, but after a popular run the show seems to have moved on to Broadway.
