Disney's California Adventure has undergone quite a few changes with more to come this summer with Avengers Campus opening where Bug Land used to be. Here's 20 pictures of the park to celebrate how it's truly evolved into a great place to spend the day!

1. The Original California Adventure
When California Adventure first opened in 2001 the theme was largely California from the entrance itself to the Golden Gate bridge replica inside.
2. Original California Adventure Pier
This is what the original pier looked like when California Adventure first opened- largely keeping with the theme of a California pier.
3. Sunshine Plaza Fountain
The original California Adventure featured icons like the Sunshine Plaza above which all represented various aspects of the state of California. These icons are now long gone as the park has greatly transformed over the years.
4. Bugs Land
Disneyland guests said goodbye to Bugs Land in 2018 to make way for the new Avengers Campus coming this summer.
5. Soarin' Over California
Soarin' Over California has long been a guest favorite and many of us are excited to see it return at the end of this month!
6. Pixar Pier
Now the pier looks quite different and acts as the centerpiece of Disney's California Adventure with an iconic photo spots for many guests.
7. Cars Land
Cars Land is a must see when you visit California Adventure! The addition of this land to California Adventure was a great improvement to a park that even Disney agrees had some growing pains.
8. Grizzly River Rapids
Another great section of the park devoted to the natural beauty of California! Ride the rapids or walk around to explore the beauty of nature.
9. Carthay Circle
This must see restaurant in California Adventure celebrates the golden era when Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was released.
10. Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission BREAKOUT!
Despite initial push back from loyal Tower of Terror fans, the Guardians of the Galaxy transformation in 2017 was a huge success and will be incorporated into Avengers Campus when it opens this summer.
11. Toy Story Midway Mania

12. Pixar Pier Transformation
In 2018 Disney transformed Paradise Pier to Pixar Pier and reorganized the area into Pixar themed neighborhoods to celebrate favorite Pixar characters like those from the Incredibles, Toy Story, Inside Out, Pixar Shorts, and more!
13. Lamplight Lounge
The transformation of Pixar Pier also brought our favorite renovation of the Cove Bar into the Lamplight Lounge! You can read our full review of brunch and dinner to see why this is our favorite place to eat in California Adventure.
14. Red Trolley
We're anxiously awaiting the return of our favorite trolley once the construction in California Adventure is done for Avengers Campus!
15. Buena Vista Street
You can find this iconic statue of Walt and Mickey on Buena Vista Street.
16. Frozen: Live at the Hyperion
Another great entertainment option is to go see Frozen: Live at the Hyperion. We are always blown away by the talent of the performers in this show and the special effects the theater provides is worth the hype.
17. Oogie Boogie Bash
Disney has moved the Halloween festivities over to California Adventure with the Oogie Boogie Bash and this last year's celebration did not disappoint.
18. California Adventure Festival of Holidays
California Adventure has become known for its festival marketplace booths offered at celebrations like Festival of Holidays for great food and drink options! Another fan favorite is the Food & Wine Festival set to return in March!
19. Paint the Night
The fan favorite Paint the Night parade has frequented the park over the years- fingers crossed it returns soon! You can always keep an eye on our parade guide to see which parade will be offered on your visit.
