Disney has announced that Phineas and Ferb will be hosting the new version of the Magic, Memories, and You. I am so happy that Disney is adding Phineas and Ferb as the hosts, because then it will bring in story to the show, something that it desperately needs. The Disney Channel stars Phineas and Ferb will help park guests kick off a rockin’ summer celebration that visits the beach, the jungle and under the sea with favorite Disney characters and cherished Disney music.
With this new addition to the Magic, Memories, and You, the show may slightly turn to become similar to “Disney Dreams,” witch would be a good thing. It seems that Phineas an Ferb are popping up everywhere. What do you think?
The first entertainment offering is a show starring Red, the fire engine. He will be accompanied by a “Volunteer Firefighter” and they will have the task of watering all the plants in the area. *If you attend this show expect to get wet.*
The second street entertainment in Carsland is “DJ’s Dance & Drive” where DJ( a character from Cars) is a “party car,” that puts on a show, and blasts party tunes, acompanieing DJ will be Spinner, the human host of the show. During the show guests will be able to join DJ and learn car-themed dance moves including the “Overdrive,” “Reverse” and “Hairpin Turn.
What do you think about these new shows? Will you attend? I can’t wait.
A treasured piece of Disneyana will disappear from Disneyland on April 30th at the end of this month. Disney will be closing Carnation Garden’s the location that is filled with music of all sorts, and is considered the bandstand of Disneyland.
The colorful outdoor area right next to Sleeping Beauty Castle has had swing dancing parties call it home since the time that Walt ran the park, in fact the area was one of Walt’s favorite in the park.
But that will all change soon because Disney has annonced the new Fantasy Faire “an enchanting village square that will immerse guests in the stories of their favorite princesses.” The new area is an update to the existing princess area located to the left of “it’s a Small World.”
When the Fanstasy Faire built next to “it’s a Small World” opened it contained not only a great place to for park guests to meet princesses but also a large theater that hosted a live show. The show was similar to “Beauty and Beast-Live on Stage” telling the tale of Snow White, but was much better.
Once the Snow White show was closed, the Fantasy Faire became a place that was only fun for the girls, and took hours to meet the princesses. With the new are Disney will try to avoid the issue of waiting in line for upwards of an hour.
Disney has released some concept art showing off the new area, and it’s amenities.
While Disney is taking away the classic look and feel of Carnation Garden’s there is one tradition that Walt Disney Imagineering knew they couldn’t break, and that is night time dancing. But during the day it still must tie in somehow so it is “where the tales of Disney’s fairy tale heroes and heroines will be brought to life each day.”
In Tangled Tower and Royal Princess Hall guests will have plenty of “ample” time to greet the Disney princesses.
Many Disney fans have been sending around the picture below, and others like it showing Walt Disney, and early park guests enjoying Carnation Gardens.
Disney has also announced the final dates of the popular series hosted in Carnation Gardens, Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party.
The Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party will continue to go on in Carnation Gardens until the closing of the area on April 30th.
April 14 – featuring Doc Anello & the Swing Machine
April 21 – featuring Stompy Jones
April 28 – featuring Swingtown
While the party is ending at Carnation Gardens, Jump, Jive, Boogie Swing Party will continue to go on over at the Westside Stage in Downtown Disney.
Make sure to head to Carnation Gardens one last time to get your picture taken infront of the iconic sign, or just to dance the night away one last time.
What do you think of the new experience? Will you miss Carnation Gardens? Did you ever attend the night time shows? What will happen to Disney Performing Arts, the school bands that performed there? Did Disneyland lose one of it’s most iconic lands?
During a press conference about Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary entertainment offerings Steve Davsion talked about the new show “Disney Dreams” and how it is similar to California Adventure’s “World of Color.” Steve Davison talked about how he really likes the technology behind both shows because of the ability to change sequences often.
When he was talking about “Disney Dreams” he mentioned that it was easy to change sequences and in fact they would be changing sequences in “World of Color” this summer.
Disney hasn’t said anything about this slip, so we can only guess what the addition will be.
My thought is that the new sequence will replace “Pirates of the Caribbean” and will represent “Brave.” The new sequence will probably open June 15th with the rest of California Adventure. Brave comes out June 22 meaning that when the new sequence comes out it will promote Brave for about a month, and then be relevant, because “Brave” will then be a classic.
What do you think the new segment will be? When I first heard about the new sequence I thought about “The Avengers” but then I realized that some of the theme park rights for the characters from the movie were given to Universal. That’s the same predicament that Disney faced when they added the Avengers monorail, see our post about that here.
Disney’s California Adventure will be reopening in June, and opening with that debut is brand new batch of environment entertainment for Buena Vista Street the gateway to Disney’s California Adventure.
Recently Disney placed casting calls on their audition website for two new shows for Buena Vista Street, the “Five and Dime” and the “Red Car News Boys.”
Disney described the “Five and Dime” as “a high-energy musical group (‘Five’) fronted by a female singer (‘Dime’) with the vocal stylings of Ella Fitzgerald and Billie Holiday.” The auditions for “Five and Dime” took place last weekend.
Disney’s decription of the “Red Car News Boys” sounds very similar to the Newsies. “This high-energy group of 1920s/30s-era paperboys will take to the streets of Disney California Adventure Park as they sing and dance to authentic period tunes.”
The Roles for the “Red Car News Boys” are:
JOHNNY: portrays an older teen, the heart-throb leader of the pack, tenor
KIP: portrays a young teen, Johnny’s younger brother, the “exaggerator”, tenor
FEETS CHARMING: portrays 14-17, very outgoing, strong tapper, tenor
BRASS TACKS: portrays 14-17, gymnast, the “funny guy”, tenor
Previously Disney has announced that the new circus area of New Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom wouldn’t open until May 31st, but they had a soft opening today. Although the land isn’t complete yet Disney opened completed sections of the new land today. The newly renovated version of Goofy’s Barnstormers, the Great Gofini, the Fantasyland train station and half of Dumbo opened in the soft opening. Not yet open are Pete’s Silly Sideshow, the second half of the double Dumbo, the indoor interactive Dumbo queue / big top tent, or any other indoor areas.
But lets not dwell on the negatives, we have some pictures of the New Fantasyland gathered from Twitter. (All Photos by @CapnDanny)

This building will house either the indoor Dumbo queue or Pete’s Silly Sideshow.
The brand new Dumbo spinner looks amazing, and in this weather it glints in the sun.
A lot of detail can be found throughout the new land including these peanuts that can be found a couple of feet from the new Dumbo spinner.
Thank you to @CapnDannyfor the use of your pictures, I wish that I got to be in Orlando more often.
A first look at the Be Our Guest restaurant was released early this morning showing off the dinning space. The Be Our Guest restaurant that is currently being built for the New Fantasyland expansion in the Magic Kingdom in Disney World. The new experience will be a counter service restaurant by day and a table service restaurant by night.
In the video shown below Imagineer Ted Robledo shows of a massive mural that will be placed behind the windows to create a background, using an effect from the Tiki Room.
Disney CEO Bob Iger, and Head of Disney Parks Tom Staggs visited California Adventure yesterday and explored all the new sections of the park including Carsland and Buena Vista Street.
For the first time Disney has shown off parts of Radiator Springs Racers, and a first look at the Red Car.
This morning Tom Staggs officially announced that California Adventure will be reopening June 15th, sadly all of California Adventure will be closed on June 14th for a media event. Also on the 15th the redone Matterhorn will reopen.
Yesterday a time capsule was buried on Buena Vista Street in California Adventure. The capsule will be opened 25 years from now in the year 2037, 25 years from this year.
Inside the capsule there will be many products, and pieces of history that are very important to the cast :
Inside the capsule there were park maps, photo pass cards, park passports, a construction helmet, a Duffy the Bear plush, an copy of the Orange County Register newspaper, a Cast Member name tag, a Blackberry Cell Phone, and even a piece of the Timon parking lot which is where Cars Land is currently under construction.
There has been lots of hype around the new cruise ship the Disney Fantasy, to keep that hype alive Disney has created a video diaries series that is being filmed as the ship crosses the Atlantic Ocean.
The first video was shot welcoming everyone aboard, and introducing everyone to our captains Ray and Brent.
The trip across the Atlantic began Feb. 16, 2012 at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Germany, where the Fantasy was built. After being handed over to Disney, the ship began to cross the ocean, scheduled to arrive in New York at the end of February, just in time for her christening on March 1.
When Minnie’s Fly Girl Airlines opens today it’s star will talk. The show that will will be preformed across the way from the popular attraction Soarin’ Over California, in California Adventure the sister park to Disneyland. It is just one of the new environment entertainment options that is being added with the California Adventure expansion. The show will feature Minnie and four singing crew members dressed like old-fashioned flight attendants; they will perform songs from the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s. Sadly when the meet and greet happens after the show the talking Minnie will have been switched out for a regular mask headed Minnie.
Five years ago Disney announced the plan for the re-invention of California Adventure. Now we are at the height of the expansion and Disney has officially announced the way the new park will be split up into eight different lands. Before the expansion there weren’t really any clear lands except for Hollywood Backlot and everything else. I am so happy that the park will now be split up into clear sections.

I had a hunch that Disney would try to rejuvenate the entire resort before the re-opening of California Adventure, well it seems that I was right
Disney has now announced two new overhauls for some of Downtown Disney’s tenants. The Lego store will be remodeled to having bigger Lego statues grace the front of the store.
The store will feature a statue from Sleeping Beauty, Toy Story, and Beauty and the Beast. The store will also feature a brand-new interactive outdoor play area, all-new play areas inside the store, and of course, new large-scale LEGO models located both inside and outside the re-imagined LEGO Store. Disney has announced that they will be adding new show sequences to the show the “Magic the Memories, and You.” They have announced a valentines day theme, princess stained glass theme, and a fun in the sun theme.
The Valentines day themes, and Princess themes will begin at the same time. The first show to implement the changes will be February 1st.
Obviously the shows will be different between Disneyland and Disney World, as Disneyland’s is projected on Small World and Disney World’s is projected on the castle. I really like how the different elements of the backdrops are worked into the show like the projection from Tangled below.
Pictured below the gap are all the princess stained glass pictures that will be added to the show. Continue reading →
Well the time that all of us new would come came. Disney is replacing ElecTRONica, the nightly dance party in California Adventure. It seems that the results/feedback from ElecTRONica were good because Disney has announced a replacement; Mad T Party. The new Disney California Adventure nighttime event will begin in summer 2012, inspired by Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” movie.
Back in August we displayed photos of the new 3-seat Matterhorn Bobsleds ride vehicles that were being tested on the roller coaster, replacing the old lap seating configuration. Disney made it official yesterday when they announced that the Mountain would be closing on Jan. 9th until June. Sadly this means that I won’t be able to ride the Matterhorn when I am visiting the resort next weekend, but if you will be in Disneyland or live nearby then I suggest you head to the park today to ride the Matterhorn for the last time before summer.
After the previous redesign of a few vehicles on Test Tack, Walt Disney World has announced that the attraction will be getting an overhaul this year, confirming the previous rumors. Continue reading →
